Faith and Interest Groups

Small interest groups are integral to the life and spirit of Southminster. There’s one for everyone! Look to these groups to provide an opportunity for you to get to know your church family, as well as, participate in activities with Christians who have similar interests.

Adult Education
Our Adult class meets on Sunday mornings from September through May in our Parlor at 11:00 a.m. for an inductive program. We enjoy study and discussion of the Books of the Bible as presented in The Books of the Bible: New Testament. Come join us for stimulating conversation, edifying study, and not a small amount of laughter.

Cuba FIG
This group is concerned and/or passionate about Southminster’s relationship with our sister church the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Guanabacoa, Cuba.  The Cuba FIG develops our vision of what our sister church relationship should mean and plans and executes activities, trips, collections, purchases, or whatever else is needed to serve God by enhancing our fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters in Cuba.

This group of people are interested in being good stewards of the earth and making our footprint on the earth as small as possible.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Sisters Knitting Circle expresses God’s love, comfort and healing through the shawls they knit for those who are sick, going through difficult times or are in transition. They meet at the church the third Tuesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in our Parlor.

Presbyterian Women
Morning circle meets at the church for prayer, fellowship, refreshments and a planned program on the third Friday of every month (September – May) at 9:30 a.m. in our Parlor.

Presbyterian Readers
The Presbyterian Readers Book Club meets the third Wednesday of each month in our Parlor. We read a variety of secular books agreed upon by the group. Everyone is welcome. Presbyterian Readers does not meet during the summer. Please consult the calendar.

Quilting Ministry
The Quilt Ministry creates simple lap quilts for the residents of the DuPage Convalescent Center. They meet monthly from September through May, usually on the second Monday, in the Fellowship Hall at 7:30 p.m.  People with all skill levels are invited to join us.

S.O.L.A.C.E – Sharing Our Love and Concern Effectively
Formed to support the widowed with fellowship and social activities, members take turns planning meetings or organizing outings.

This group of men meets at the Danada International House of Pancakes (IHOP) on Wednesdays at 7:00 a.m. for topical discussions and fellowship.

Southminster Presbyterian Youth (SPY)
Junior high and senior high age youth activities include: contemporary worship, bible study, mission trips, retreats, games, coffee time. Meetings are on Sunday evenings.

Women’s Breakfast Group
This group meets on the first Monday of every month at 8:00 a.m. at the Danada IHOP for breakfast and fellowship. All women are welcome.

Women’s Bible Study
During the School year the women’s bible study meets in our Parlor most Sunday evenings to study scripture and topics of a spiritual nature. Please consult the calendar.

Young Adult Fellowship
The Young Adult Fellowship meets once a month in the home of the Pastor on the last Wednesday of most months. We share dinner and conversation. Please join us. Please consult the calendar.
